July Foraging Walk

 

Wrap up warm and come for a walk along the Cardrona and Clutha Rivers and learn how to identify, harvest and work with local wild plants as food and medicine. 

During the walk we will cover:

  • The abundance of local wild plants and fungi that are available to forage in the Wanaka area, even in the middle of winter.
  • The fundamentals of foraging/wildcrafting and how to respectfully harvest, store and preserve wild plants and fungi.
  • The nutritional and medicinal attributes of each plant or fungi that we find on our walk.
  • In July it is mostly all about fungi and the evergreens, but there is still a surprising amount of wild greens to be found too.

2 hour walk: $60

Date: Saturday July 8th  – 2.30pm til 4.30pm

Location: Albert Town, Wanaka

Cancellation Policy: Students who cancel their place at a workshop with more than one weeks notice will be given a full refund, however cancellations after this time can only be refunded 50% of the course fee. Cancellations with less than 48 hours, no refund can be given.

August Foraging Walk

 

Wrap up warm and come for a walk out at the beautiful Lake Hawea (15 minutes from Wanaka) and learn how to identify, harvest and work with local wild plants as food and medicine. 

During the walk we will cover:

  • The abundance of local wild plants that are available to forage in the Wanaka area, even in the middle of winter. 
  • The fundamentals of foraging/wildcrafting and how to respectfully harvest, store and preserve wild plants and fungi.
  • The nutritional and medicinal attributes of each plant or fungi that we find on our walk.

2 hour workshop: $60

Location: Lake Hawea

September Foraging Walk

 

Come for a spring time walk (in Wanaka or close by) and learn how to identify, harvest and work with local wild plants as food and medicine. September is all about the spring greens, dandelion flowers and pine pollen.

During the walk we will cover:

  • The abundance of local wild plants that are available to forage in the Wanaka area, even in the middle of winter. 
  • The fundamentals of foraging/wildcrafting and how to respectfully harvest, store and preserve wild plants and fungi.
  • The nutritional and medicinal attributes of each plant or fungi that we find on our walk.

Date: Sunday September 17th, 2.30 til 4.30pm

Location: TBC But somewhere close to Wanaka
